The main objective of National Child Health Program

Program details: –

National Child Health Program is being run in all the districts of Rajasthan. Under the program, the initial screening of each child is done at both home and institutional centers. In this program(National Child Health Program), two mobile health teams have been formed in each block of the districts of the state. Vehicles are provided to each mobile health team to tour the field and have been strengthened by providing medical kits of medical equipment and medicines required for intensive screening of children. Each mobile health team is given the necessary training to screen the children.

Each mobile health team consists of a four-member staff consisting of two paramedical staff and two AYUSH doctors (one female and one male doctor).

RBSK Target Groups And Health Check-UP

  • All newborns from birth to 6 weeks

Institution-based screening: For screening of newborns born in government medical institutions from 0 to 6 weeks of age, at the identified delivery points, medical officers, pediatricians, gynecologists, or ANMs maintain their records by identifying congenital disorders, Arrangements have been made for reporting and referral. Home birth screening of newborns from birth to 6 weeks is done by ASHA during home visits. For this ASHAs have been given the necessary training to recognize congenital disorders in children.

RBSK Screening at Anganwadi Centers: –

The health of children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age is checked by mobile health teams at Anganwadi centers.

National Child Health Program Screening in schools: –

The health check-up of children from 6 years to 18 years is done by mobile health teams in all government schools. According to the micro plan, health check-up is done in all government schools and Anganwadis by the mobile health team. During the investigation, each child’s referral and screening card is made and if the child is suffering from any of the identified diseases, then only through that referral card he is referred for further treatment. Further treatment of these children is done at the Block/CHC level by conducting camps by specialist doctors. If treatment is not possible there, then those children are provided free treatment in the district hospitals and medical college hospitals or empaneled private hospitals.

Major achievements of RBSK in the year 2014-15

  • A successful health check-up of 2257112 children was done.
  • 127290 identified children were referred.
  • 84091 children have been treated at District Hospital and Medical College.
  • 40,000 children have been treated by organizing camps at the Primary / Community Health Center / Block level / District level.
  • Various surgeries have been done on 350 children, mainly Cleft Lip & Palate, Developmental dysplasia of the hip, Congenital cataracts, Dental conditions, Congenital cataracts, etc.
  • 35 heart surgeries were performed.

Major achievements of RBSK in the year 2015-16

  • A successful health check-up of 3653404 children was done.
  • 142043 identified children were referred.
  • 88301 children have been treated by organizing camps at the Primary / Community Health Center / Block level / District level.
  • Various surgeries have been done on 713 children, mainly Cleft Lip & Palate, Developmental dysplasia of the hip, Congenital cataracts, Dental conditions, etc.
  • 145 heart surgeries were performed.

Major achievements of RBSK in the year 2016-17

  • A successful health check-up of 58,67,543 children was done.
  • 2,25000 identified children were referred.
  • 67,108 children have been treated at Primary / Community Health Center / Block level / District level by organizing camps.
  • Various surgeries have been done on 1605 children, these are Cleft Lip & Palate, Developmental dysplasia of the hip, Congenital cataracts, Dental conditions, etc.
  • 584 heart surgeries were performed.

  • A successful health check-up of 62,70,108 children was done.
  • 2,96,313 identified children were referred.
  • 1,49,843 children have been treated at primary / community health center/block level/district level by setting up camps, district hospitals, medical colleges,s and empaneled private hospitals.
  • Various surgeries have been done on 1764 children, mainly Cleft Lip & Palate, Developmental dysplasia of the hip, Congenital cataracts, Dental conditions, etc.
  • 593 heart surgeries were performed.

  1. Under the National Child Health Program, health check-up of children in the age group of 0 to 18 years is conducted by mobile health teams trained for 38 identified diseases at all government schools and Anganwadi centers in the state.
  2. Under RBSK, about 20 percent of the children suffering from the identified diseases RBSK are found to be suffering from dental disease.
  3. These children are treated in the district hospital, and children suffering from dental disease have to come to the hospital three-four times for treatment. Due to the distance of the district hospitals from the villages and the number of patients in the district hospitals, there is a problem in the treatment/follow-up of the children.
  4. From October 2, 2017, equipped mobile dental vans have been run in seven divisional districts for the treatment of children suffering from dental diseases. These mobile dental vans have a dentist, dental assistant, and assistant, and all facilities like the dental chair, x-ray, freeze, autoclave and dental air compressor are available in this van.
  5. Screen children are being treated in RBSK by organizing camps for the treatment of dental diseases at village/block/health centers through the RBSK Mobile Dental Van.
  6. From October 2017 to February 2018, a total of 390 camps have been organized by RBSK Mobile Dental Vene in all the districts of seven divisions and 32134 children suffering from dental diseases have been treated in different types and 1362 children have been referred to the district hospital / medical college hospital.
